the best thing to come out of Canada since Crown Royal! May his memory and music 'rise again' today and evermore. thanks, Stan.

@MiramichierA1 You'd be right. I play them. I'm in college now. My kids will learn them when I have kids. I am proud to have sung Stan Rogers' works and to have introduced them to others. What a wonderful performer and artist and man; here's to him, his family, and his legacy.

Yes.
He died on the runway in a passenger plane in which a fire had started in the waste bin in the rear washroom. He died of smoke inhalation along with many other passengers.
It was said that the last thing anyone saw of him before he died was him helping people to safety before he died of asphyxiation (smoke).
He was part of the tombstone engineering that is called "safety" in the airline industry. That flight is what put smoke detectors in the washrooms on planes.
Shed a tear for him.

I'm so thankful to have been able to see Stan perform, at the Sounding Board in West Hartford, Connecticut. I treasure that memory and my autographed copy of his songbook. His music will live forever in Canada and the rest of the world.

4:57 is three fishers if you're wondering which this is... it's both :)

"The Jeannie C" comes close as does "White Squall." How about "Last Watch on The Midland," or "First Christmas Away From Home"? Stan was a genius. I am convinced his songs will still be played and sung 100 years from now.

Wonderful, thank so much for this. Could you tell me is this an album or live version? Is an absolutely superb recording.

R.I.P Mr. Rogers. Thank you for your wonderful gift of music!

I was introduced to Stan Rogers a couple years ago by my best friend and I was blown away. He then told me that he had died! Man, what a tragic loss. R.I.P Mister Rogers, you and your beautiful music is sorely missed.

It is such a tribute to a young man whose music is still played and heard across Canada, and around the world, apparently!
This past June 2 marked the 25th anniversary of his (in 1983), and still he is still here!
Wonderful!
