I was introduced to Stan Rogers a couple years ago by my best friend and I was blown away. He then told me that he had died! Man, what a tragic loss. R.I.P Mister Rogers, you and your beautiful music is sorely missed.
Hey folks - some know and others don't that Stan's son, Nathan Rogers, sounds an awful lot like him and is making quite a name for himself. Search Nathan Rogers, Summerfolk Finale or Nathan Rogers Home County Folk Festival on YouTube or google him. You won't be disappointed!
Just want to add to the above that Nathan's version of "Three Fishers" is stunning, and that you can listen to it and other songs on his MySpace page.
There is a stunning tribute song to Stan Rogers called 'Safe in the Harbor' by Eric Bogle. You can find it on youtube. I can virtually guarantee anyone who has been touched by Stan's music and voice will be in tears by the end of it. 'Mary Ellen Carter'is without doubt one of the very finest maritime songs ever written. What a loss!
