If we become a tehcnological serfdom. we become extraterrestially dangerous. Either the aliens that will come will blow us up (good for me) or help us further on. But I do hope we can still independantly decide our future, no matter how bare and naked the future now looks like.

The thing is, we have a serfdom as our future, and capability of spreading around.

Imagine all of the U.S.'s allies had equal military strength, most would not be allies. The U.S. has the ability to pressure other nations into following their agenda. If I have just as much or more power than you, why should I listen to you? You listen to me!

Also, the U.S. doesn't want their allies to build militaries. For example, Canada's Avro Arrow. The U.S. did not want Canada to possess more advanced jets then their own, so they pressured us into destroying the project and all evidence.

@zOMGLaserGunzPewPew I understand where you're coming from, but you can't have it both ways. The U.S. government doesn't want superpower competitors, allies or enemies.

The main reason for the U.S.'s collection of military bases around the globe is to prevent a military attack on the homeland, which nobody has ever done. If a country ever attempts an attack, the bases, equipment and infrastructure are already in place to react.
