"Song for Jimi" was done as a tribute to Jimi Hendrix on the Tenth Anniversary of his death in 1980. Phil Lynott got back together with Eric Bell to record the track. Brian Downey played the drums on the track, essentially reforming Mk. 1 Thin Lizzy. Enjoy!

  • Wasn't Midge Ure involved with this release ?

  • Um, I'm not sure. I know him and Lynott redid "Dublin" around the same time...someone else probably knows better than I do.

  • if all the hippies cut off their hair i don't give a fuck

  • 100% DOWNEY!!

  • Downey could certainly play this. He is a monster drummer when he wants to be.

  • I have this song and I was gonna upload it also. Be good to see more links up for this song as it`s rare.

  • this is the song I'm looking for.

  • I believe this was an outtake from Lynott's second solo album sessions, just compare the drum sound and drumming style to "Gino" where Nauseef also plays.

The credit on the boxset might be a mistake, those liner notes look like they have been done in a hurry! Anyway, it's Nauseef, if you ask me.
