Guqin - String Test 2: nylon [initial test]

Test number two on my ZCW qin strung with newly innovated silk-nylon (i.e. silk core flatwound with nylon like in metal-nylon) strings .

Melody: Qiu Shui

NB: the strings have just been strung so they haven't been broken into yet and are not stable hence the detuning during play. I have recorded a new video when the strings are more stable and tuned to standard pitch.

NB: it has come to my attention that the strings are not made of silk at all and that they are made from nylon. Therefore, the designation of 'silk-nylon' is now incorrect and it shall henceforth be known as 'nylon'. There is silk in there but only in the wrapping ends which do not have any effect on the sound anyway.

can you tell me more about these strings? How are they constructed? They sound quite nice, none of the metallic clinking sound that comes with metal strings.

Also, where did you get them? I didn't see them listed on the NAGA website.

Silk is clearly the way to go.

Good qin + silk = tone quality is worth every millisecond of sustain loss.
