i finally own a monterey fuzz, i love it, my favorite fuzz of my collection, got it for $230 which is way more than it retailed from bob, i also have the new mjm london, very high gain, very smooth, i have the deep trip bog fuzz, very lower order harmonic rich, i have the dunlop blue jh-f1, not too gainy, not too fat, sounds like rainbow bridge, but i think my monterey is the most hendrix sounding, right amount of fuzz, and clean, and gain, and harmonics

@tjk3052 Yeah, my bad! There are germanium transistors available, but not the models you ideally want for a fuzz face. Pedalpartsplus for example only have the 2n388 germanium transistor which was never used in the original fuzzfaces.

It doesn't mean those transistors are bad, there are many cool ones, but they don't sound like the real germanium fuzzfaces.. for that you're going to want something like an old NKT275 - and finding good ones without leakage in single pieces isn't an easy process.

@skurtix There are no diodes in a fuzz face circuit. If you mean the transistors, there are legit places to by germ transistors, I don't buy components on ebay. Try Smallbear or Pedalpartsplus.

@tjk3052 Getting authentic old diodes is pretty difficult if you're just looking to buy a few and not hundreds at a time though.

Most single nos diodes sold on ebay are forged
