Ever wonder if the brain is powerful enough to heal itself? Find out how University of Auckland researcher, Professor Winston Byblow, is investigating ways to improve recovery after a stroke—currently the leading cause of adult disability in the Western world. By identifying the biomarkers that predict recovery of hand and arm function in stroke survivors and developing novel techniques to make the brain more responsive to therapy, he hopes his research will lead to improved outcomes and reduce the social cost of stroke.
