Rams head into holiday break with win over Badgers
In a game of momentum swings, the Ryerson Rams women's basketball team managed to grab the last one and defeat the visiting Brock Badgers 73-66 at Kerr Hall on Saturday afternoon.

The Rams controlled most of the first half and led by eight points going into the break. They started the third quarter off on an 8-1 run to take a 15 point lead before Brock went on their own 24-5 run, taking a four-point lead. Ryerson battled back in the fourth quarter and managed to tie the game with five minutes to play. The Rams then went on a 10-0 run and never looked back en route to their seven-point victory.

Jenny Hobbs (Burlington, Ont.) led the Rams with 19 points and eight rebounds. Fifteen of Hobbs' 19 points came in the second half and she had a very strong fourth quarter at both ends of the court. Lisa Goldring (Burlington, Ont.) also came up big for Ryerson netting 17 points and grabbing a game-high nine rebounds. Stacy Pigden (Barrie, Ont.) added eight points and Lacey O'Sullivan (Port Colborne, Ont.) poured in six points and grabbed eight rebounds.

Leading the way for Brock was Lauren Stewart (Hamilton, Ont.) with 19 points and six rebounds. Hillary Woodside (Fall River, NS) had a strong performance with 14 points and eight rebounds, while Jessica Del Signore (Brantford, Ont.) added 10 points for the Badgers.

Ryerson was actually outshot by the Badgers, 41.8 percent to 35.2 percent from the floor and 23.1 percent to 21.1 percent from beyond the arc but out rebounded Brock 44-32.

"I was very happy with the team. The goals we set, we achieved," said Rams head coach Sandra Pothier, who added that she was impressed with her team's maturity after coming back from Brock's big run.

With the win, the Rams go into the holiday break with a record of 4-6. Brock's record drops to 5-5 with the loss. Ryerson's next action is December 28-30 at the University of Calgary tournament. The Rams return to regular season action January 9-10 when they visit Ottawa and Carleton.
