The problem with coins and banknotes for now is... that they cannot be tracked... (yet)... these powermongers just want to track everything about you. EVERYTHING.
Scary stuff.

how wonderful this cashless society would be! having banks/goverment have total control and knowing of your every single transaction. and if you piss them off - they simply shut you off the grid - splendid !
