110. Determination and declaration of result of election to office of President.
(3) Where two or more candidates for President are nominated, and after a poll taken in terms of subsection (2) no candidate receives a majority of the total number of valid votes cast, a second election shall be held within twenty-one days after the previous election in accordance with this Act.

" The law says you need to have more than 50% of the vote to win an election in Zimbabwe. "
Specifically Article 110 of the Zimbabwe Electoral Act of 2004.
Morgan Tsvangirai in his autobiography admitted that he didn't know about the run-off clause. Also, apparently none of the MDC lawyers had told him or anyone else about it.
So they went on to accuse the Zimbabwean government of 'stealing the election'.
@elghian It's almost certain that even with Mugabe out of the picture you'll never call our country Zimbabwe. Which makes your opinion biased at the very least.
@elghian Correction: The law says you need to have more than 50% of the vote to win an election in Zimbabwe. This new law was voted for in 2004 by both MDC and Zanu PF MPs. No one had more than 50% because there were 3 candidates. There was supposed to be a "run off" between the leading 2 contenders i.e. Mugabe and Tsvangirai. Tsvangirai COULD have won but he decided to boycott the election as advised by his Western buddies. Dumb move. Mugabe went ahead with it anyway and declared himself pres!!
What is good is he now dying painfully, unable to even get treatment in his medical system - which he destroyed with his policies. He must fly often to Singapore for treatment, like a poor rural peasant who must trek a long home from the hospital in the big city, because he can not afford to live close to the hospital. So fitting an end to this tyrant, although his supporters deserve the penury they brought on themselves these last 30 years.
@ThePen077 You must be delusional, In 2008 ZANU PF lost out to Tsvangirai, and that was Mugabe controlling the ballot box. He disputed it and remained president, allowing a so-called power sharing deal with Tsvangarai and Mutambara. That doesn't seem to be 70% of Zimbabweans that love him!. To be quite frank your comment 'under the rule of whites' is questionable. At present Many african nations are commiting the most brutal acts to each other in the DRC, Rwanda, Uganda.Somalia etc.
@elghian You seem to be lost my friend Mugabe is not bad at all, only the western Media publish that propaganda. Just to let you know 70% of zimbabweans love Mugabe including me. if it was not him we will be under the rule of whites and i rather struggle being lead by my own people than fucking whites from Europe. To hell with rhodesia. Bush Blair , Cammeron, Obama are killing thousands and it is good! Look at Lybya and smell the coffee..
What a fucking piece of dogshit this Mugabe despot is. An example of one the most decadent despots the world has ever known. This fukwit changed one of of the most beautiful countries on earth into one of the most deprived places on earth. This evil sewer rat has murdered hundreds of his own people, let alone the whites that remained in Southern Rhodesia (I do not accept Zimbabwe). When this old fucker kicks the bucket, hell won't even admit him, he's so fucking evil
