@EvendimataE The space between the columns can be used for shelving, cabinetry, etc. The Double Space Bed is also a free standing furniture unit and can placed in front of windows, outlets, art on the wall, etc.

The Double Space Bed is set up to stop the bed at any height, which allows the placement of different furniture pieces in the alcove below the bed. Additionally, any type/style of mattress can be used, which is much more comfortable than sleeping on a sofa everyday.

if your going to go through all the trouble of moving the pillows and cushions from the couch why not just get a couch with a folding bed in it?

@dashizl That is indeed an alternative, however any style/type of standard size mattress can be used with the Double Space Bed and the bed can be set-up to stop at any height - allowing the use of any type and height of furniture below.

If you were squished into a 90 sf apartment, that would be great...you'd be able to have a guest sleep there too and you don't need a loft. In fact you could build a desk and shelves on one end, and a closet space on the far end. You could have a folding table that comes out from under the couch for dining,that's on an arm so that it can be put away easily. It'd be like a stationary Winnebago.
