English (la version française suit):

"Méditation élégiaque" (Elegiac Meditation) was composed for someone wishing to honor the memory of his recently departed life partner.

Finally refused for "philosophical differences", expressing the exchange of last thoughts between the soul (violin) and life (piano), and closing with the soul's ascension and life's decline, Michel Perrault composed an elegiac meditation of great depth, beauty, and serenity.

"Meditation élégiaque" by Michel Perrault is here beautifully performed by the sister musical duo of Amélie (Violin) and Ariane (Piano) Benoit Bastien, in the concert hall of Regina Assumpta College, where Amélie teaches the violin.

This May 30th 2011 performance was sponsored by Annette Gobert, Michel Perrault's widow. The recording was sponsored by the Cosmos Square Inc. TelepathMedia production unit.

Bravo to the the composer and the artists, Amélie and Ariane Benoit Bastien. It brought tears to my eyes, especially realizing that the composer is no longer with us. Did he attach the title or was that added posthumously? It would seem he knew his time was short. Peace, Michel Perreault. Thank you, Jean Chatillon, for bringing this to our attention.

  • @harpluster (1), Michel Perrault (note the spelling) wrote this piece 15 years before he left and he was very dynamic and very much alive at the time. As described in the accompanying text, he wrote it with empathy for a violinist who had just lost his life partner and requested an original composition to honor her memory. The title is the original title that Michel gave to the composition when he wrote it.

  • @harpluster (2), Michel Perrault lived 85 years knowing that his time was short, and ensuring that his work, as a composer, researcher, guide, director and others, was always as meaningful and structured as possible. A great scientific mind, dedicated to music, Michel had no beliefs, but was strictly and deeply interested in finding, understanding, and expressing facts. "Méditation élégiaque" is a very structured composition, written as Michel understood and felt for the widowed violinist.
