Marshall JCM 800 half stack (ain't talkin bout love)

No post effects, just a 2 layer raw recording. Squier Strat with a fat singlecoil, Boss DD-5 in efx loop. Pics are taken from my RC plane over the Rosebowl in Pasadena CA.

Sounds very nice, I've only got to hear them when recorded by cheap cameras, so...

I don't care much for the singing in that song but I always loved the intro.

Anyway may I ask what kind of JCM 800 it was (100 watt, 50 watt, cab/combo?)

Thanks, it was a 50w head on a stock 1960a 4x12 cab. (I think that's 70w Celestions)

Same to you, I was thinking of getting a 50 watt halfstack, but I was worried it might be a little overkill. that's the main reason I asked.

I think the speakers/cabinet have a lot more to do with the volume than 50/100w, though as loud as that halfstack got, I know a drummer that could drown it...

Metallica used these but boosted them on ride the lightening, they used the JMP equivalent on kill em all. you can probably get a maiden ton out of it too
