I have to agree with you. I loved that old layout. Unfortunately I think the volunteers were getting fewer and lacked experience. Maintenance was difficult and as you know what parts you could find weren't cheap but most you couldn't find and had to be made, and in many cases had to be casted. Each morning before operation the rails had to be sanded and we were scheduled to replace the rails to stainless when I found out about the change. I'm just glad I had the opportunity to work there.

Fantastic model. Funny to think it's so old too, but nice to see her still running like she was built yesterday.

This looks GREAT!

I have often heard of this car, but had never seen it. The car and your layout are stunning.

I worked at the LA County's railroad for a few years just before they converted the trains to the current G Scale. Had a lot of fun there. You've got a great layout.

Personally, I think the original equipment was amazing and should be running. We can see the G gauge stuff anywhere, but you won't see anything that comes close in magnitude to the sheer craftsmanship that it took to build the 2-1/2" gauge trains. Herman Howard and John Huie created something spectacular, which has been reduced to what is commonplace now. They could have kept at least one of the 2-1/2" gauge lines running! What were they thinking when they ripped it out?
