It is said that he would perform routines such as this after having consumed an entire bottle of gin. Maybe I shouldn't be impressed by that but somehow I can't help it.

He remindsme of Babe Ruth, because of his talent and because of his nose XD heh
No but seriously, I've only seen 1'nd 1/2 movie of this guy and he is already my favorite comedian of 1st half 20th century.
There's something in his eyes that makes him look tender and forever young but makes you feel guilty of how demoralized his characters are, In the end his eyes are nothing but a reflection of his soft personality.
He's like a kid yet is adult, nothing wrong, but still, unique. GREAT GREAT man.
