CONFIDENTIALLY, A SONG FROM 1949 WRITTEN BY BRITISH COMEDIAN REG DIXON, BORN IN COVENTRY, ENGLAND. THIS BECAME REG'S SIGNATURE TUNE. IT WAS ALSO RECORDED BY AMERICAN COMEDIAN, DANNY KAYE.

VERSE
THERE'S SOMETHING MOST IMPORTANT,
I HAVE TO SAY TO YOU.
I DON'T KNOW HOW TO START,
BELIEVE ME BECAUSE IT'S TRUE.

CHORUS
CONFIDENTIALLY, I LIKE TO TALK,
CONFIDENTIALLY, WITH A GIRL LIKE YOU.
CONFIDENTIALLY,I'LL TELL YOU THIS,
I WOULDN'T IF IT WASN'T SO,
BUT NOW I THINK YOU OUGHT TO KNOW.
BUT KEEP IT DARK,
BECAUSE YOU'LL SEE.
THAT IT'S VERY CONFIDENTIALLY.
I REALLY SHOULDN'T TELL YOU BUT THERE'S SOMETHING IN YOUR SMILE.
MAKES ME WANT TO LINGER WHEN I OUGHT TO RUN A MILE.
AND NOW I'M GOING TO SAY IT IF YOU'LL LISTEN JUST A WHILE.
CONFIDENTIALLY, BECAUSE IT'S TRUE,
DON'T TELL A SOUL I LOVE YOU.

  • hi tomsmith would you have the recording of CONFIDENTIALLY with a song called I LIKE TO DO THINGS LIKE THAT on the other side of the record?. If you have would you put it on YOU TUBE please. I remember it from 1950-1952. Frank Dublin

  • Hi Frank. Thanks for viewing my video. Unfortunately, I don't have the recording you refer to, only the sheet music for Confidentially.

  • Hi James. I think you'll find that the photo is of Comedian Reg Dixon. I believe the Blackpool organist was referred to as Reginald to differentiate between the two.

  • My name is STEVE BARCLAY I am a comedian! I met Reg when he was in summer season at Butlins I was 17 he said so you want to be a comedian - I said yes Mr Dixon he said "Why do you want to suffer" how right he was!

  • At one time Reg entertained the forces. He was having a drink in the dressing room with the Flight Sergeant. I knocked on the door and said, Excuse me Flight Sergeant, the stage is on fire. Panic Panic, we soon put it out.

  • This song was by Reg Dixon the comedian, not Reginald Dixon the organist

  • I have original sheet music for this song and there is a photo of famous Blackpool organist, Reginald Dixon, on the front. It says that the music was composed by him. Having read your information above, I am now wondering whether this is correct.
