Thailand's rice prices have nearly tripled since January - from about $380 a tonne, to more than $1,000

Despite international opposition, Thailand wants to create an Opec-style cartel to control prices and keep them high.

  • the real thailand people has dark black skin..

  • It was the EXPORT prices raising and NOT the farmers prices

the farmers got about 25% more for their rice.

The traders and exporters are making the profits over the backs of the farmers.

Lots of them don't have enough money to use fertilisor

  • @terryphi Is ths price high for the farmers or the international world?

  • Can you please investigate more into this rice/food cartel?

  • In Thailand, price of insecticide and chemical fertilizer go up to 300 percent since Feb2008.
