A 3D visualisation detailing the interior development of a typical English parish church. The visualisation begins at the east end of an Early Saxon church and details the architectural and decorative changes encountered during the change to a Norman-style church.
The visualisation is an extract from a longer sequence on "The English Parish Church through the Centuries: daily life & spirituality, art & architecture, literature & music " (interactive DVD-ROM, 2010), produced by the Centre for the Study of Christianity and Culture at the University of York. The DVD provides introductions to the latest research on parish churches and the influence of Christianity on literature, music, art and society from 225 leading scholars with nearly 2000 stunning images from national and international collections. The English Parish Church also includes vivid 3-D models of the development of church interiors and exteriors, specially-recorded music from the Anglo-Saxon period onwards, conservation information, and individual case studies of over 30 churches. A resource for everyone interested in art, architecture, archaeology, literature, history, and music. See http://www.christianityandculture.org.uk.
