Ugh! I hate those crossing horns, but nice video!
-
Why do they need a quiet zone at one crossing? You'll hear the train honk only 4 times.

When it was just the mills and industry along the waterfront, it didn't have to be quiet. Now there are a lot of condos and that posh Cloud Hotel.

@ortingdude Yeah, I tend to exaggerate.

Just to clarify - Max speed for any Amtrak train in Washington is 79mph. And the speeds along Ruston aren't that high. It may just seem they are going faster...

@lawpar79 Some of those Amtraks go 90+ through there, not the one in the video, but many. If you ever watched one and see how some of those locals drive, you would believe an accident per week, with only, "DINGDINGDING." The horns on the trains are blocked by the hill on the curve.

wats up with the horn??

It seems electronic crossing bells and the wayside horns are a common combination with quiet zones
I hate all these quiet zones that are now starting to take place. People are such complainers about the horns. Nice video.

Cool shot. I used to go here BEFORE the quiet zones. Was a great spot, until they pulled this BS.
