National Chief of the Association of First Nations, Matthew Coon Come, defends his public rebuke of Canada at the United National Anti-Racism Conference where he criticized Canada's treatment of its Native Peoples. He adds that First Nations Peoples should not have to give up their way of life in order to qualify for federal aid.
What he would like to see is a redistribution of wealth and resources and be given access to those resources in order to earn income from them. He also discusses the stereotyping of Native leaders, native rights and aboriginal land claims. (Originally aired October 2001).
