"Phase/Cognition" - Here's a live rendering from a max/msp/jitter performance project I've been working on. The audio and the video are made in realtime (though the live version is meant for surround sound or quad speakers). Brought to you by Ben Cantil, featuring hands-on collaging by Kitty Savage.
gee yall chill on it, it was our first time playing with the patch so i got out some art books and tried to match up faces.... there are plenty of themes in the art if you have an imagination... well it was a great time, sorry if it actually disturbed any of you! lol

when you say you improvising the music with MSP, what are you controlling exactly? I can guess that you're adjusting the stutter~ timing with some kind of controller's knob - but the rhythmic patterns in general, where do they come from? Are they preprogrammed in some kind of step sequencer? If not, how are they being generated?

This certainly sounds nice. :)
What about a tutorial that explains how you do something similar in Max/MSP?

so ben when we gonna start doing some pd together? opensource ftw!
in response to all this flaming going on: he even says it's a work in progress. i think the point of the subjectivity to art is although there may be an overwhelming intended theme, all that really matters is what you take from it, what it gives you personally. that is the connection between the artist and the observer, an overall theme might give a proper context but it's not the end-all meaning. oh and audiovisuals RULE btw.
