N.B. This is a six year old spare wheel and tyre (low mileage!). The wheel was cleaned with CarPro IronX Decontamination Spray, then sealed with CarPro C.Quartz Ceramic Quartz Coating (two coats). Tyre dressed with CarPro PERL Trim Dressing.
CarPro IronX Decontamination Spray: Highly effective, acid-free and pH balanced (6~7pH) car paint, glass and alloy wheel cleaner (safe for all clear coated alloys). This formulation is also effective and safe for use on all automotive surfaces and will not deteriorate clear coats. Note: It is recommended to avoid contact with chrome trim, bare metal parts, brake calipers, wheel balancing weights, SMART paint repairs (please mask same) and above all, avoid letting IronX dry out on treated surfaces. Simply rinse away with a strong stream of fresh water.
IronX contains unique chemical ingredients that effectively dissolve sintered iron, by forming a water soluble iron complex. The IronX Decontamination System was developed as a method of removing contamination beyond what can be removed by washing or claying. If you are familiar with detailing clay, you know it is capable of removing contaminants proud of the surface. IronX is designed to remove what lies beneath the paint surface.
Airborne chemical compounds and ferrous particles - particles containing iron - actually penetrate the paint and create corrosive compounds that eat deep into the paint's sub-layers or pin-holes. This is a gradual process that often is not evident until it's too late. Claying or polishing only removes the particle, not the effects, which are continuing to spread beneath the surface.
During normal daily use of your vehicle, brake dust and road grime become sintered to the surface of paint and wheels, due to the high temperature and conditions they are normally exposed to. Brake dust contains high levels of iron and once sintered to the rim, become extremely difficult to dissolve or remove, without the use of harsh chemicals. IronX opens paint pores to release ferrous particles and to neutralise caustic compounds, that have developed in the paint's sub-surface. Ongoing damage is stopped immediately and future damage is prevented by removing these ferrous particles.
IronX sprays on as a transparent liquid solution. As the cleansing liquid begins to work, the formula turns purple/red in colour. This purple/red coloration is the IronX cleaner forming a bond to the sintered iron and changing it to a water soluble complex for easy removal. After five minutes or thereabouts, treated surfaces are wiped down and rinsed thoroughly with a pressure washer. When the entire vehicle has been completed, it is then ready for claying and/or polishing.
CarPro C.Quartz - Ceramic Quartz is the next generation protective coating for painted surfaces, glass and wheels. Cquartz offers an extremely durable hard glass coat (with a high-gloss shine), which protects auto finishes for up to two years. Protection against minor scratches, swirl marks, acid rain, bird droppings and harmful UV rays.
This is not a sealer which forms a sacrificial shield of protection (e.g. wax). Instead, it is a modification of the surface chemistry at the molecular level, to provide a permanent (easy-to-clean) protective surface. Cquartz contains ceramic nano particles, which form an ultra hard layer of protection, with a superior anti-scratch effect than conventional coatings. High adhesion to the treated surface and long term durability.
Cquartz (with Hydrophobic effect) works by repelling water and preventing the adherence of contaminants. At microscopic level, automotive paintwork has peaks and valleys, so dirt and grime builds up relatively quickly. Cquartz (having sealed paint pores and smoothened the surface) allows dirt to wash off more easily, providing a clean surface and with less propensity for water marks. This unique coating has Anti-Calcium Effect ... with most sealants dried water spots penetrate the coating, making removal far more difficult.
The ceramic quartz coating is long lasting and UV stable. It cannot be removed by water, alkaline or other detergents, nor using high pressure washing equipment. The Cquartz treated surface is guaranteed to keep its original clarity and transparency. Cquartz can be applied to any surface: paintwork, glass, wheels, plastics and rubber trim.
Note: Before Cquartz can be applied, a vehicle needs to have all painted surfaces cleaned (dewaxed, decontaminated) and polished to a very high standard (using silicone-free and wax-free polishes).
