  • @fredr1c, your comment about the relative absence of vibrato in Jenny's violin-playing gave me an "aha!" moment. I'd never stopped to analyze why I liked her spare-yet-rich sound, and I recognize now that her "lack of vibrato" brings honesty and space to the music. If she were a more "baroque" (ornate) violinist, I'd miss the abstractions, the 'room-to-move,' and the 'plain-spokenness' of this music. It sounds like open plains, dark farmhouses, weathered faces, blunt reality, maybe even hunger.

  • @avivagabriel :) Yes -- beautiful description of the images she creates with her sound. That spaciousness allows for collaboration with others and gives our imaginations room to paint our own respective images based on her music. She's got her own distinctive voice but there's room for all of us to get in there.

  • One of the best jazz violinists, shes a little bit country or actually more than a little bit ROLFOL I really love her music, she is a great singer too. This tune shows some really nice blending between trumpet and violin there is a whole lot violin can do in the modern jazz ensemble...thanks a lot for posting

  • @PlatypusofCalifornia You're welcome. I really love her work as a violinist, she's got a unique voice. In particular I enjoy her _lack_ of vibrato in most instances. She's also a great collaborator. She has "big" ears and a keen sense of what she can bring to any given musical situation.
