Why is it that in NZ only feel-good coming of age style films can get funding?

Either way, 5 stars for you, I'll go see it.

Great, it opens Feb 5. And I have to say I think you're a little mistaken. First, this film wasn't funded except in the tiniest part by government arts bodies. Second, go see "Black Sheep", "Dean Spanly", "Utu", "The World's Fastest Indian", "Once Were Warriors", not a feel good coming of age among them LOL. I would have said this was the hardest kind of movie to fund.
