  • I think it's actually a good idea. Pets may teach prisoners how to love some again and how to be responsible for another being. May actually be a good rehab. Just guessing :)

  • i have anger management issues myself, keeping pets has helped me keep cool. this method is also very helpful if they get the animals from rescue/homes. beneficial to both parties.

  • dat bassline!

  • @SinisterSkip or they can kill it

  • a beautiful video of a beautiful idea!!

  • @aslelsa Not really. No one goes to prison for having a mental illness. In fact, many criminals are in hospitals for committing violent crimes, because they were judged unfit to assist an attorney in their own defence. Plus, a hospital is an environment that needs to be kept to a certain standard of cleanliness, which can't be maintained with animals running around.

  • @KestrelJames ,Good point!!

  • @Hakudohshi Prisons have become the warehouses of revenge. Rehabilitation costs more than simple incarceration. Your avarage breeder animals are legistlated to receive more "intellectual enrichment" than your average prisoner. It's unfortunate, really, because if we can reach the young, this way, perhaps they can be diverted from this kind of warehousing in the future.

  • @WESTLOS I think he's in another country. The show this depicts international current events. Youtube is international, as well. We do, however, have these program in a few enlightened prisons in the U.S. INitial results have been very good, however, but intervention & rehabilitation are expensive. I fear the animal programs will be first to go, as being un-necessary when compaired to food, upkeep, renovation & other essentials.

  • @IstalkBananas Yes, it is, until you consider the triangle of psychopathy - bed-wetting, fire-startnig & ccrueltty to animals. This doesn't mean that prisoners shouldn't be allowe dot use animals in their rehabilitation, only thatthere shuold be an effective vetting of each prisoner receiving an animal. I think it's a great idea, on the whole Animals are non-judgemental & prisonerrs can foster parent animals & train guide dogs for the blind & working class animals Giving back to society.

  • @x111240 There have been a number of rehabilitation methods attempted, some more effective & useful than others. The whole point of prisons was, originally, to house the victim while they awaited the criminal's trial, a guilty verdict meant banishment from the township. The next step was to control what prisoners thing - control how/what they think & you comtrol their behavior. This has held true,. What no one had considered was that, eventually, the prisoners would be controling each other

  • They should also give pets to mental cases like me, since living in a hospital is pretty much the same as a prison XD
