My parents (well my dad) said that music from the 60's and 70's was so much better than music from "today" (the 90's).

Every generation likes its own music and repudiates that which comes later. Teens and early 20's now will hate the music of the '30s.

I actually didn't particularly like this song as a teenager, but now I gotta say I rather like it, probably because it is so very 90's and because I wish I could go back and unscrew up my life :p

I'm from the 60s and 70s and I agree with his father, but there was good music in every decade---you're just unfamiliar with it. And as far as this being the only good mainstream band in the 90s, that's ridiculous. Just ONE example is The Tragically Hip. No, they didn't originate in the 90s, but they were active then. There are a number of others, including Blues Traveler and The Wallflowers. But it's still subjective. That, as they say, is why Baskin Robbins makes 31 flavors.
