AH student presenters from WMU will compete for the Program Excellence Award at AHMI 2010.
WMU demonstrates best practices in all program areas, with strengths in the areas of institutional support, fundraising, nonprofit management curriculum, and community service. American Humanics is housed within and supported by the School of Public Affairs and Administration while also receiving institutional support from the University. During the 2008-2009 school year, Campus Compact and the Fidelity Charitable Gift Fund granted AH students at WMU $15,000 to re-grant and $3,000 for administration costs. Students studied community needs, set priorities, issued requests for proposals, analyzed 23 proposals, completed site visits, and held a Students4Giving Grant Celebration. The AH student association completed an additional 4 fundraising projects including an Annual Letter Appeal for AHMI and Santa's Village, raising a total of $26,695.00 during the school year. AH students at WMU planned and implemented 7 community service projects (including Bowling for Kids Sake and a HeadStart Christmas Party), for a total of 1190 community service hours.
