Along with the birth of "motocross" in Southern California came some super heroes whose name reverberate with excitement. John R is one such name. John Rice flat out hauled ass, and he did it with style and grace.
He was the original "cool dude" and his name is legend. He was a fierce competitor who knew how to win. His dynamic character and rock star charisma made him a main attraction every weekend, whether he was thrilling crows of 30,000 at great Grand Prix like Westlake, Elsinore or Hopetown, or racing at the local motocross parks like Bay Mare, Indian Dunes or Perris. He was #1 plate holder for AMA District 37 two years running and could be found at the head of the pack no matter where the action was. John R, one of our heroes.

Met Mr. Rice a few weeks ago at the Four Aces National. Nice guy. He didnt really say how fast he was but I had a feeling with the way the older guys around him were gushing about him and his striped shirt, he was damn fast.
