@ Tcell and TwoP - I think that "Funk" sound that this has is what I loved about this song, but it comes from a lot of obscure (and the likes of Deep Purple, Uriah Heep and others) "Post-Prog/Metal" from the 70's that had all sorts of elements, but leaned toward Progressive Rock w/th the heavy Hammond Organ or Synth sound. Now their are all sorts of Bands like this, Beardfish, Big Elf, Haken, Black Bonzo, Presto Ballet, Anti-Depressive Delivery and more and even Opeth is getting into it.
@TCELL24 - Well, it seems you have different taste in Rock than I do..Which is fine..I'm not sure what Flea was talking about-- they get played on "white radio" all the time, since the 90's, and MTV back then ( if we can even make the distinction..will how much hip-hop and rap are played on "white"/ mainstream stations? Those genres where invented by black musicians, like "the blues.."
Then you haven't listened to their albums Freaky Styley and Blood Sugar Sex Magic. The songs you mentioned are not their best songs, but most popular ones. Most of their non-popular stuff is quite funky, especially on the older albums. like Flea said back in an interview in '91 "Our music is too funky to be played on white radio, but also too much rock to be played on black radio." Listen to songs like Give it Away, , Yertle the Turtle, If You Have to Ask, Funky Monks. funkinyoface

@TCELL24 - Not really..The best RHCP songs are not "funk.." Like "The Otherside", "Dani California", "Californication," etc..

@TwoPointsUp
This is barely funk/rock music. BTW you're forgetting the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

That song is quite reflexive...kinda give me goose bumps.
