For highest audio quality, choose the highest HD setting you can handle!

This is just a brief test of the new L.R. Baggs Anthem pickup, showing three pickup positions: full mic, full piezo, and a near 50/50 mix of both.

This is direct into a little Behringer Eurorack UB802. I've evened out the volume levels (the piezo was louder), and did some rudimentary EQ that applied to all examples (bass response was massive). I'm not intending to show an unmoderated look at the pickup, but rather show how the two pickups in the Anthem differ in tone.

I personally think the mic pickup sounds wonderful.

  • Looks like a versatile pickup...

By the way... you've got some really nice touch on your right hand.

Your playing sound so stable and smooth

  • @KorNightwish Yeah, the pickup's lovely (the mic especially). And thanks for the compliment! I put this together quickly so I could cut my nails (they're interfering with accordion practice!)

  • @SkyCharter

I have an Anthem SL and I like it. you have to keep in mind though: the more mic you dial in, the more "thin" it'll sound, and also, the more feedback prone it'll be. so it's a fine balance.

  • Thank you. This is, thus far, the most effective comparison between the saddle and mic/saddle capabilities of the Anthem. I'm hooked. Now it is just a matter of selecting the Anthem or the Anthem SL. I love control, but it is clear to me the full mic position works best so the SL is likely the one I will spring for my son's acoustic. Thank you again.

  • Very lovely sounds !!

  • Great A/B comparison and great playing. Thanks!

  • I have a Martin with no pickups, I have been looking to buy one. I'm not sure about what to get, all the demos on here sound good, but I dont feel like I can trust them completely, as I'm not actually in the room. I dont need perfect sound, just something pretty close to what my Martin sounds like. Soundhole ones are the easiest, but something permanant would be easier still? Not sure about the undersaddle kind, but they seem simple but a lot more difficult to install. Does this need batteries?

  • @Fichtezxc You really won't regret it! Awesome pickup that will "wow"-ify every sound engineer you come across!

  • Glad to see videos popping up of the Anthem. I'm about to put one up myself. Great video!
