Alan Vega disagrees - he said Springsteen's version was so great that "I'm going to have to sing it that way, or not sing it at all anymore." And, "On my death bed, that's the last thing I'm going to listen to."

Mr Vega may have disagreed.......he's a very polite man. But lets not mince words, Mr Sapatilha may have incurred the wrath of enuf of his outside world to have his comment almost removed. It remains none the less eminently valid and I for one salute his courage as well as his taste.

Sanjo: if you're not analyzing the music for its meaning, then what is your analysis for? Don't you think that part of what historians, sociologists, and musicologists do is look at a song's lyrical content? And don't you think that musicologists and other academics studying music really appreciate music?

So what does your analysis of "Born in the USA" say? What makes Springsteen far under average? What's the average? How is my interpretation fake?

Dillon:How do you do?When i listen a track i analise strictly the melody (voice and instruments) and the lirics... To be honest and to a considerable extent i don't care about the meaning or the reaching of a music... it should be analised, for instance, not for those who really appreciates music but by an historian or by a sociologist, understand? And as far as to the final result is concern, Springsteen music is far, far, far under the average...

Spare me to fake erudite interpretations.Congs

What are you talking about? I'm no fan of Springsteen, but I don't doubt his ability or sincerity. I wouldn't fault Vega for saying he appreciates Springsteen's cover.

"Born in the USA" is about broken promises and the suffering of the American working class: at war, at work, in their interactions with institutions, in the criminal justice system. It's sentimental, but it's basically all true. It's been used, like CCR's "Fortunate Son," in ways that are antithetical to its lyrical content.

Dear sir, i do not want by any means to insult you but let me remark the preposterousness of you comment !!!!! Absurd! Naif! We are dissecting the track, here, lad, not the so called positiveness or nagativeness it contains! I deeply recommend you to consult a Psychology forum, a more suitable ground to exercise your bullshit.

Best regards from this poor guy who only tries to preserve our common musical patrimonium!

We all have the right to become insane! Too many speeds, lack of money, tenderness of the sixties, who knows?Poor Alan Vega! I'm looking for a reasonable explanation for such a ridiculous tribute which certainly made the so called boss the happiest man of the world! Born in the USA! Born in the USA! For god sake! Let me present you the worst and most pretentious song ever composed!!!!
