Smt. Padmavathy is a senior vainika who was also inspired by the legendary Veena S. Balachander. She uses some elements of his style while mainly incorporating the more traditional Tanjore style of Veena playing. Veenai Jayanthi is a direct disciple of the Veena legend, S. Balachander. She too uses some elements of his style while predominantly following the conventional Tanjore style of Veena playing

  • Hello, can you please post part two of this video ? The piece does not have the kalpanaswara. Thanks

  • i wish i learned how to play veena. the sound itself is beautiful enough. but in addition, they are so involved. i just respect that. i am still VERY content to hear this beautiful instrument in their hands. thank you!

  • I really touch the feet of God while hearing your music. Thanks for uploading

  • sundaram

  • The kriti is "Parantamavati jayati parvati" by Muthuswami Dikshithar in the raga Dharmavathi..

  • Yes, this is indeed Dharmavathi. Smt. Jayanthi Kumaresh is accompanying Smt. Padmavathy.

  • is this based on Dharmavathi?

  • How difficult is it to understand the reason behind the subtle differences in the naadham by the different vainikas. How dou understand what is the right technique? A mystery indeed for me.
