@heismovie True, but Thorpe was the best at what he did. Thorpe only swam IMs as something else, he never trained for it, Phelps' training is based around IMs. Don't try to compare Phelps to Thorpe but you just can't, Thorpie was a 400 freestyler, Phelps is a 200 fly/IM swimmer. Lets give Thorpe the credit that he was a good enough athlete to swim an event he never trained for (200 IM) and still pants people who only raced that event, and that he was possibly the best freestyler in history.

Actually Michael Phelps is a full marijuana player: pipe, pott, bongs, etc.... as I know Cesar Cielo is not a bad example to the kids - sports should avoid this bad behavior.

@davidfrgs he had the second worst time...but we went without a rolling start...a properly executed relay start can save you .7 or .8, which is a TON of time...did you forget that, in opening that relay, Phelps broke the American record in the 100m freestyle? stop hatin...the mans a beast, and your just jealous...thorpe was good at the IM...but he stopped swimming it when phelps started swimming it...wonder why?

@heismovie well...thorpe had the 200 IM record till phelps came along...then he stopped swimming it cuz he knew he couldnt win anymore...but 200 fly? forget about it..Phelps owns...and at one point phelps was .03 off the 100 backstroke world record too..what a monster

Thorpe never set records in the IM. and for the record on the 4 x 100 free relay at beijing Phelps had a better time than cullen jones and that is his worst event minus breastroke. jones is a sprinter.

Anyways fact is fact thorpe got his ass kicked by a 19 year old when he lost to phelps. he was good but hes washed up now.

First. Just the fact that he was on the 4 x 100 freestyle relay is something to consider because hes not a sprinter.

Second. At beijing he set the world record in the 200 free and had held for long before. so what do you by he is not the best. It doesnt get better than first place.

but relays almost don´t count because he had the 2nd worst time of his relay team, and for 200 free he is not the best the same for the IM´s , he is a fly swimmerbery good I admit but not, and if u say that for phelps i can say that thorpe also is good at 200 IM and the 4X100 free, 4x100 IM 4x200 free
