This Conrail train has just passed Berea Tower (which is still open at this time in 1991) and is heading southwest (railroad west) towards Columbus, Ohio. An eastbound is waiting to enter the interlocking, since Conrail had single tracked the Columbus line, and the Berea interlocking to the Cleveland Short Line. CSX has since had to rebuild double track here. The grade crossing has also been bridged. This is now a 60mph raceway and CSX primarily connects its New York traffic with its Chicago Service lane via Greenwich, Ohio on this route. (Check out my other videos search jrmasoh)

  • as do i great place

  • The tower is still up, trains have gotten shorter, Conrail engines still can be found, Amtrak is still always late, and unfortunately The Station Restrant is closing. But I still travel to Berea interlocking to watch trains.
