  • @z3125 I think the name comes from the fact that you are moving the pH back and forth by the addition of the acid and the neutralization by base. Then repeating this movement ion pH multiple times. I will ask around though since I have no objection to changing the name but I would like to be consistent with the name we use so people could find it easily.

  • I don't think that the response of a simple buffer solution to acid should be termed an oscillating reaction. There's nothing periodic about it except that you're pouring more acid in repeatedly.
