On March 6, 2008, Love Light and Melody celebrated the second " day of light" (Dia de luz) at the trash dump community, "La Chureca" in Managua, Nicaragua. Hundreds of college students from the USA came for their spring break and loved on this community and had fun at a Braddigan rock concert. It was an unbelievable day.

I just came back from La Chureca. It's the end of the world. I just cannot believe, and I do not want to believe, that there are human beings in this world who have to live under such conditions. to me, La Chureca is the epitome of human indignity...I hope that at least some of the people who live there will get the chance to live a better life.

i've been there several times & i think by great they might mean the experience. it really is sad and dishearting to know that people live there but where exactly would they go to live if they outlawed it as a place to live? whether it be a place for humans to live or not it is their home. but i think the most amazing and great thing about this place is the faith that is inside every single person living there, despite the conditions they live in. & to me that is great.

Nicely done. Bless you all that are helping. I sure hope the kids can get out of there in their lifetimes.

I am sorry, but I am wondering HOW you can call it great? Perhaps you are not meaning this... The place is not great by anyone I have ever met. Perhaps the kids or people are but it's hell on earth...not a place fit for humans and really should be outlawed to live there.

That's really cool that you guys were able to do that. I remember you guys talking about this place when you visited Japan back in 2006! Looks like it was a big success!
