Deftones "Live" @ the Cactus Club -1996 on Project Placebo

I'm re-writing what I originally wrote about this video! I first wrote "rare and never seen"....well, since I posted this video....I've received over a dozen emails about how people own a crappy bootleg version of this show (even as far away as Poland - geeez us)....somehow, some way this has been on the underground scene for sometime...and I had no idea.....so, that being said...NO ONE HAS a version that is THIS CLEAN! This is from the MASTER "original" TAPE! This performance was right after their 1st CD was released...the Deftones returned to their 2nd "live" home (the now defunct "Cactus Club" in San Jose, California). I show a series of clips, including the explosive show opener "Root", followed by "Nosebleed"....then hear Chino cookie-monster his way thru "Say it Ain't So" (a Weezer cover)...then I end the entire video w/ the show closer "Engine No. 9" (TECH INFO): This was a 3 camera shoot at the Cactus Club with sound from the board, shot by (now) Project Placebo Producer Greg R. back in January of 1996 Under-NO-Contract from Maverick Records or the Deftones...this was produced as a "house show" - this is JUST a personal recording captured before anyone really cared about the bands direction....fun stuff! Be witness to Deftones at their beginning...and Chino when he was HALF the man (150 lbs. lighter) than he is now! Enjoy...Placebo.

....he doesn't sing the whole version....abe had the flu...and was throwing up behind the drum kit....chino was just stalling for time until abe sat back on the kit....same thing happened during 7 words.....abe started throwing up again....and a fan jump outta the crowd and sat on the kit...and played 7 words note-4-note....nice.

"Hostile" was my photography name back in the day....wow, that sux that my work was being passed out to everyone without compensation to me...the footage you have of "Root" at the beginning of that tape...is mixed with footage from the film, "The Philadelphia Experiment"...the effect of the light tunnel....but I only used that on the first song. It will always be a mystery how that tape got out. Thanx for the info!
