Annual dyeing the Chicago River green by the journeyman plumber's union between Michigan Ave and Columbus Ave at 10am. A St. Patrick's Day event for over 40 years that precedes the city parade which steps off at noon. Always the Saturday before St. Patty's Day..
@bookgrrrl101 a tourist attraction for a day doesn't make enough money in the long run.

St. Patrick's true origins are still a little sketchy, One report claims he was born in the latter half of the fourth century, somewhere between 373 and 390 A.D. Location of his birth, most likely in Roman Britain, his Roman name was Patricius. They also say his real birth name was Maewyn Succat! There was the traditional story that St. Patrick after living in Rome, was sent back to Ireland by the Pope to Christianize the inhabitants of Ireland.
