Your Data, while missing shouldn't have been permanently deleted. You should have still be able to recover your documents using a "Data Recovery" software. Depending how the Windows OS was installed you may have had to do a deep scan since the OS Might have wrote over some of your data.
Oh well, Guess this doesn't help you now.....
