Freeview reception in some parts of Corsham Wilts is not very good. The Digital Switchover in March / April 2010 will see the Corsham transmitter only offer around 15 TV channels + around 10 radio channels. The Mendip transmitter from which Corsham gets its relayed signal offers around 50 TV channels and a similar amount of radio channels. In this post we see the antenna one Corsham householder hopes he can get a Freeview signal from Mendip and get the full set of channels rather than the few provided on the Corsham Relay Transmitter located in the grounds of Corsham School.

The MUX Magician antenna offers serious gain over standard TV Yagi's and is a well made antenna, light in weight and end of boom mounted. The triple boom adds extra gain. Enjoy !!

  • There is actually no such thing as a 'digital aerial'. All aerials will receive digital or analog signal if there is a strong signal.

  • Let's just call it a high gain multi element tv antenna with a big reflector instead.

  • It did receive signals from the Mendip transmitter but only consistently the BBC Multiplex which is on higher power than the others. The house in question is in a valley with a housing estate some 50 - 75 feet higher than the antenna which is directly in line with the Mendip signal. It remains pointing at Mendip but really just picks up the Corsham Transmitter signals and the 30 or so channels broadcast from there. With a pre-amp you can get Mendip but only reliable in high pressure conditions.

  • Yes it worked fine on the Corsham transmitter.

  • If you look at aerialsandtv.co.uk, you will see that these type of aerials are terrible compare to yagi 18s.

  • My nan brought one of these from screwfix a few weeks back. I'm only 14 years old and I have obsessions for some of the strangest things (aerials are the main thing) so I thought I would fit it for her. She wanted it in the loft, so I installed it in the loft not reading the assembally instructions and it worked fine until I installed a non-boosted spliter, then we had some problems. Turned out that it was because I had put the thing with the Fconnecter behind the reflectors! I gotta fix it soon

  • Just looking into getting my freeview tv set up. I've bought an aerial and a tv. Do I need other cables and what plugs in where. Please help, sorry for my ignorance
