@cfb36 You're partly right. We are seeing shock waves, but only where the flow is locally supersonic over the wings. The actual airspeed is less than Mach 1, because the shock waves would be at the front of the aircraft (bow wave) and back of the wings (oblique shock waves).

@teeray12 Yes. The sound inside the cockpit travels with you. I've been supersonic many times, and never heard any difference from within the cockpit. Can still hear all the noise from the cooling fans and airstream, plus my own breathing over the intercom. Radios work fine too.

If its called "SONIC BOOM" why not have some volume. Too many dumbass video like this. But you thought it was "cool" when you posted it. probably still do.
