@pointerboater There are various genres within the flute band scene in Northen Ireland, the above videos are mainly of Blood & Thunder style bands and the tunes have been arranged in a Blood & Thunder style also. There are Melody, Part music, Corps of Drums style bands who would be , in your words 'Polished' however, Loyalist culture is for all the people and its music has a diverse range to accomodate everyone, I think it would be boring for many if all bands were 'polished'.

What a contrast between the cool reserve of the fifers and the complete madness of the bass drummers. I'm from Canada, and my ancestors were Orangemen, and I'd like to think that I understand something of the significance of the drums; but these bands lack elegance and polish. They could be so much better if they cleaned up their deportment on parade.
