Energy can be created through limited natural resources such as coal and oil, or through renewable sources such as wind and water. When Independence Energy sources energy to supply you, we buy Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) representing megawatt-hours (MWh) of renewable electricity produced. For our completely green product, we buy more RECs. Buying RECs increases the demand for, and therefore the market for, renewable energy.

Each of our products offers 5% cash back on annual energy usage!

Every 12 months a customer is with us, we will send them a check for 5% of their energy usage for the past year. It can be used however they like...we think of it as a bonus for using their power to choose to better their environment.
