This is a very personal song for me, and it took quite a long time to get the mixing right. I'm making this video in New Jersey (spending the summer up here with my boyfriend), so despite the fact that I recorded myself playing the glockenspiel and the electric guitar, I can't edit it all together because I don't have Final Cut Pro up here on my laptop.

From here on out, I'm going to stop producing covers like this (except for some rare exceptions, in which case I'll doubt I'll be able to show the footage from all the sounds being made), and instead use my live setup to correctly characterize what sort of music I can make at live shows - complete with total looping ability on 7+ instruments.

  • has anyone told you you look alot like óbó ( The pianist that plays with Jonsi)?

  • @sirolly Funny you should ask this - yes, I get that quite a lot (at least when I'm wearing these glasses). The first time I saw them, in New York, I was standing right up front and Óbó definitely looked directly at me and like, shifted his head like he was trying to see if he actually saw a doppelganger. It was made even more hilarious by the fact that he was dominating a piano part at the time.

  • Can someone tell me what the lyrics are for the last two lines?

  • @AshleyRose43 Probably not. Jónsi doesn't publish his lyrics, so it's all up to interpretation. My opinion changes on what it is (and so does his, because the early recordings sound quite lyrically different than the later ones), so I certainly can't write down what I think it is. It's anybody's guess, really (the Jónsi forums, at least for a while had quite a hilarious debate regarding the lyrics to this song).

  • great cover! just wondering though, what kind of mic do you use to record? thankss

  • @yorayalay I usually record with an Electro-Voice Raven. It's got the breadth to capture the lows of cajon up to the highs of flute, voice, etc. Great mic for the price.
