Cyber Sex and Sexting - Is it OK?

I was just wondering your take on cyber sex and 'texting'? I have received lots of different advice on the subject and what people think of it and so far everyone has a different take. The reason I ask is that I have recently discovered that my boyfriend of over 2 years has had a regular habit of jumping online and exploring. Normally I would be open minded about these types of things, I know it's considered by some just a form of masturbation, but I have discovered that some of these women are not anonymous and are actual acquaintances of his -and mine. I know nothing physical has occurred. I have confronted him, we went through a very rough patch but have essentially worked out our relationship and he has (to my knowledge) halted his habits and seems more devoted to me than ever. Okay well I have to answer the question from the opposing viewpoint. I had been involved in cybersex many times before, chiefly as a masturbation aid. Though my girlfriend found out and was very hurt by it. We discussed it and I admit I failed to address my issues at first, but then I realized that while it's merely a creative aid to my physical desires, she is concerned about me developing an emotional connection that might replace her. I am glad to say I eventually did overcome it though!

Why not do it with each other? It's great fun - cybersex and sexting can add a new dimension to your relationship - it depends how open you are with one another, but it can be mind blowing (!) ;D

It would bother me if my bf was sexting because having a partner is the whole reason for your sexual pleasure plus love. You can't be a secondary part of his life compared to other sexual pleasures. The whole part of having a relationship is doing stuff with each other. Sexting with each other is much better than doing it with strangers.

@OlyJeebus People are incapable of being honest with themselves. "Why would he be sexting and cybering in the 1st place?" Because the variety in sex isn't there plain and simple. Since in monogamous relationship variety can't be achieved in the number of partners, it can be achieved by spicing up your sex. Boring sex = wandering eyes. I don't care how good your relationship is, a bad sex life will lead to it ending or cheating.

O.K enough is enough. People have been extending the meaning of sex to incoporate things they're insecure with. Watching porn is not cheating. There is no sexting... just text. I've been watching porn since I was 12 and It will be a cold day in hell if I give that shit up.
