  • I agree. I've noticed that a lot of today's youth are very much anti-subculture/counterculture (unlike the 80's and 90's, where it was a crucial part of identity and culture). It seems this generation wants to redefine and distance itself from its predecessor by having this attitude of "I'm an individual, I don't NEED labels", which is pathetic, because we as human beings inevitably conform to some kind of label, based on interests, tastes, state of mind, etc.

Keep doing what you're doing :)

  • She doesn't care about the people she cares about the harassment, and I'm an extremely creative person but I know where I fit, so what? Doesn't affect my imagination or creativity, that's part of personality which labeling doesn't affect. I completely agree with this, it needed to be said. And if people who don't label are "creative" people then they shouldn't have to go around harassing the people who do prefer to label themselves.

  • Omg , i totally agree

  • People keep trying to change me, can you help me?

  • i honestly dont see the problem with labeling.. why be upset over something someone calls themselves? .. and these people think that their opinions matter and they dont..whats the point in listening to someone so closed minded and anti-social .. ??

  • I agree with everything you said. Labels are just the outside & not who a person is inside unless they want it to be. How we look can be an expression of who we are inside but not always. To many people, clothes are just clothes & don't represent anything. My point is that to label oneself is different 'cause it's not about saying "I look like this" but rather that you feel your "look" expresses your inner-self in a meaningful way. A person can thus be goth & yet not look goth (or vice versa).

  • I completely agree with you! I'm goth and I will say it with pride. There is no reason to care about people like that. =]

  • Indeed :3 I WILL GO ON A QUEST TO KICK THEM ALL IN THE THROAT *-* But I am very short .-. mission aborted TT.TT

  • hm, if you really don't care what other people think, you wouldn't care that people label people or do whatever you're complaining about. You would just ignore it if those people and their opinions meant nothing to you.You do care what other people think because you are complaining about other's opinions. You care a lot! If you didn't you wouldn't spend 8 minutes in your life trying to explain how much you don't care, to the people the allegedly don't care about! Focus on your own life bitch!

  • ... I don't get it... you are rather cool. yet you get issues. a lot of goths over in your country sound like complete arses...

  • I agree 100%. If you're on a soccer team, you call yourself a "soccer player" with pride. If you were born in Ireland, you call yourself "Irish" with pride. If you wear black and have in interest in darker things, call yourself goth with pride.

  • I discovered you, and I have no idea how. BUT! I find you attractive. And very interesting. (; The world needs more people like you who are willing to be themselves and not care.
