Made for the 2007 Regency Exhibition Ball www.regencyexhibitionball.blogspot.com
Although historic accuracy is highly prized and sewing a wardrobe from a period pattern is the very best one can do to create a Regency period look, it is possible to take modern clothing and adapt it to give a historic feel—perfect for the Regency Exhibition Ball, on June 23rd, 2007 in Lansing, MI.

  • Of course, achieving a "Proper Regency Look" is much more difficult for a man! At what thrift store can a man be furnished with a wing collared shirt, tail coat, dropfall trousers or breeches (with hose), double breasted waistcoat, tophat and cravat?

  • Very interesting. Thank you for the tips. I have old jazz shoes, and I would never have thought to use them as part of a Regency costume.

  • This is so incredibly helpful! I have a Regency presentation coming up soon and I was wondering, rather desperately, what exactly I should where. And help with hairstyles too! Thank you so very much!

  • You can get a sort of " Regency Style" for a man! Although there are few occasions to wear the Cravat and Frockcoat, but choices of dark trousers, crisp white shirt and waistcoats usually serves well wherever you are, work, socialising etc, and it never go's out of style either.

I love the regency style on both sexes though, it has style, class and manner, so if anyone gets the chance to wear it, wear it!

  • Ok, this video was great except for the camera person who was shaking and jolting the camera everywhere so that after a while I started feeling like I was on a ship during a storm. Other than that quite helpful.

  • Thanks sooo much for uploading this!

I loooove the regency period, and I'd love to create a look similar to this!

  • thanks for this vid ladies v good, are these dresses are good for maternity also?lol xxx

  • You need better lighting, more close ups.

Interesting stuff, but where are you going?

I'd make a dress like that but where's the punch bowl?
