That was all the justification the Christians needed to spread the religion forcefully throughout Rus. There was a lot of resistance.

I'm Polish and I see the pagan revival here, it is not massive and widespread but you can sometimes meet people praying to old Slavic gods in forests... Almost all Poles are Roman-Catholics but sometimes I wonder how it was for my ancestors to worship old, ancient Slavic gods...

Why do you call them idol worshippers? They worship the gods of nature and honor the seasons. if anything, Christianity is idol worship because it sets up Jesus as equal to God.

I am not Russian, but my ancestors in Europe were forced to suppress their "pagan", nature-based religions as much as these people and their Russian ancestors were. And what is wrong with rejecting some or all of modern life? They live in community, they live close to nature, they're returning to their roots.

Technically, the Greek alphabet *was* invented by pagans. The Christians were only civilized because they supplanted the pagan civilization of the Roman Empire. You act as though civilization wouldn't have existed without them.
