This is sort of a post by request... i saw someone mention this on a different Ruby Winters video, so i dug this 45 out and had forgotten how much I liked this side, but the flipside is equally good, her version of Jesse Belvin's Guess Who (miscredited on the label as Jesse Beldin). Ruby Winters was one of the mainstays at Diamond records for close to four years. This was her last 45 on the label (and one of the last 3 on the label as well). This record had involvement by Marlin Greene and Eddie Hinton, both of whom worked with the Bleus (who had a Diamond 45 two releases prior to this one), so it wouldn't surprise me if they're the backing band on this record. She would get caught up in the Diamond Records shutdown and shift over to Certron records for one release (allegedly Certron bought the Diamond masters), before having some hits in the later 70's and then completely vanishing from the music world. Ruby, if you're still around, we love you and your music and wish you'd make yourself known again. Anyone who knows me, knows i am a major collector of the Diamond record label, and when i went through my box of Diamond 45s to dig this one out, i pulled out about 30 more that i will get on youtube in the near future...so if you see a sudden rash of Diamond label postings from me, you'll know why. You can hear great records like this one live every night on www.topshelfoldies.com!

  • Love it love all of Rubys work

  • Amazing! thanks! :)

  • This song was recorded in Muscle Shoals and was produced by the great Marlin Greene and written by the late, great Eddie Hinton. Not only did I grow up listening to this, but I fortunate enough that my father called these two men "friend" and I've had the pleasure of meeting them both. Who woulda thought that a bunch of Alabama boys could make such magical music.

  • chills, everytime!

  • would love to hear ,baby lay down such a great song.

  • Very nice! I'd love to add this to my "Lava Lite Theater" collection of songs!! :-)
