@aaustin1241 well, first off, you don't need to be sorry, but I appreciate your politeness. The fact is that in European countries where there are strict gun control laws and Japan, the violent crime rate is much, much lower, than the United States'. both in strong arm (armed with a gun) and violent crime. I think this has a lot with the culture and the huge disparity in wealth. and I can understand where you're coming from, but stats say you are most likely to shoot a family member
@marzilyas I'm sorry, but I was just looking at the crime statistics for the UK. It seems that violent crime went up after the ban on weapons, not down. But I also looked at every state that allows concealed carry, and found that violent crime went down after citizens were allowed to possess guns. Odd, isn't it? And, for the most part, CCW carriers are not trying to prevent mass shootings, but the everyday rape, assault, and armed robberies that occur rather often.
the shooting in arizona thats what happens when citizens have guns i do martialarts im not rushing to my nearest congressman saying hey can you make a law where we can carry nunchakus no people having guns that dont work what if a thug takes your weapon away from you, thats bad
@marzilyas I live in westland, michigan but i go into detroit all the time because michigan is a right to carry state and i can carry my forty five were ever i go. It is not the gun it is whats in the mans heart that kid named albert in chicago was beaten to death with a piece of wood. As an American it is my god given right to defend myself.
@marzilyas cont. the existence of a gangster culture, a cancer which is afforded by easily obtainable contraband weapons that are mostly just stolen from non-gangster citizens, leads to perverse and brutal "conflict resolution" that would not be possible if guns were banned in the truest sense, not the like today where guns are plentiful in most places within about an hour's drive from smack in the middle of downtown. The path to fewer guns is outlawing them. I live in Chicago, so I would know.
@truthadvocate i disagree with the idea that one can make a stark, discreet judgment about criminality. There are obviously monstrous pyschopaths, but only a tiny bit of the gun violence is done by them, statistically speaking. The elephant in the room is that gun violence in chicago is mostly a minority problem. Human beings are social animals, and if one grows up otherwise deprived and the circumstances in which he grows up imbue him with a gangster ethos.
Not quite. I didn't say which variable has more influence than others. I simply said many variables play a part. I don't think we disagree there.
Chicago has outlawed handguns for ages, yet it's plagued by handgun violence. Then again correlation does not equal causation.
The most compelling argument is the following deductive reasoning. Criminals don't follow gun laws. Peaceful citizens do. So gun laws just remove guns from peaceful citizens & leave them in the hands of criminals.
