Part one of my ongoing series on making homemade ethanol and running your cars & things off of it. I hope everybody is smart enough to understand why I dumped a $40 bottle of liquor in the gas tank so that I don't get any comments like "congratulations dude, you proved how cost effective it ISN'T to run your engine on everclear". The point was to see if an engine would even run off of alcohol BEFORE building a still which may possibly produce the same alcohol for much cheaper. I will be using my own liquor from now on. I'm sorry, I know there wasn't a whole lot of useful info presented here (mostly due to my having to cut out MOST of my material because of youtube's 10 minute rule), but I will be getting deeper and deeper into this, so stay tuned!

  • Great video.... Are you still blacksmithing???

  • not so much, but I plan to get back into it soon

  • I hope you don't burn a valve.

  • Is that something I need to watch out for? What would cause a valve to burn & how can I prevent it?

  • Well its a good practical test to start with, we all saw what you did and its accurate enough for me at this point.

Thanks for the excellent work, I like your approach, onto the next part!

  • Stranto you should put in a smaller jets on the carb. There is more oxygen in ethanol. You need to adjust accordingly. And you can get more performance out of your engine. Just a thought. I can give you more information if you like on sizing the jets.

Good work I hope to see more of your stuff.

  • @strantor Back in the 1950s-1960s thay made a carbartor that gave 100 miles to the gallon but it would burn up valves in 20-30 min. The air fuel mix was to lean maken the burn to hot for the valves. Ethanol burns hotter thin gas but less explosive but be worned Ethanol brakes down rubber faster thin gas.1st. I would replace the intake valve with a exhaust valve thay have more carbine and can takes more heat. 2nd I would open up the intake jet to give more fuel. 3rd. I would us a 2 cycle mix.

  • alcohol engines need to be re-jetted to run properly.

  • I been lookn for some Mash videos to do what Iv wanted to for a long time And Make me a Syill, I look forward to clickn on the other videos you got. Thanks for your foot work.

  • I really like the FlowChart.

  • I bet his neighbors hate him. LOL!

  • I'm no expert by no means but I think alcohol burns hotter than gasoline so you may have to get a cooler burning spark plug.
